About

The French custom of a father's gift to his newborn daughter was the crafting or purchase of an armoire carved with symbols of plenty and happiness, which stored her trousseau to use in her own home once she married. This beautifully carved, two-door, wedding armoire features flowers, foliage, and roses. The sides have raised panels. Cabriole and block legs support the armoire. At one time, the interior of the armoire had shelves, but most of them have been replaced with a bar for hanging clothing below the top shelf. The original hardware includes large hinges and a decorative escutcheon.
